I had one of those 'good to be alive' days out yesterday in beautiful Autumnal sunshine on a tour of the southern Lake District.
We stopped off at four locations on our days tour but the pick of the venues for me was Kelly Hall Tarn in the Torver area where I took this image looking north towards the Coniston fells. We were there bright and early before the sun crested the rises behind us and the area was initially just a little, well, dull. But what a transformation when the sun appeared and illuminated the area!
Kelly Hall Tarn really is a hidden gem and is rarely visited but what a perfect location for a summer family picnic, or just a photographic sojourn in the sun.
